The "more expensive" PS3 also outsells the X360 in Europe. I would venture to say that the typical European console consumer has a different idea of whats worthwhile in a console purchase than the typical American console consumer.
I think price point is more important in the Americas, especially during rough economic times, but... you both have a valid point -- a different market has shown no real impact.
