For them, shipped is sold, as it's sold to their customers, as in retailers and resellers. If they want to tell how many have been sold through, they always say sold to customers, and not just sold.

In other words, the "sold" numbers Sony gives every quarter is actually shipped, not sold, unless precised otherwise.

it's shipped, every big quarter Sony try to inflate numbers shipping more products. Occurs this year with PS5.
