Who tf knows, I'm just annoyed that you constantly put words in peoples mouths and according to you everyone who disagrees with you does so because they're Nintendo fans.

Do you think there is a console war going on here or what?

Also, is that 80% digital split only for the PS5 or for both PS4 and PS5 and do we have regional specific numbers? I want to know that since I just found a VGC article from two weeks ago where it said on PS4 and PS5 65% of sold games in the last fiscal year where digital, not 80%. So I want to know where that 80% came from.

Considering the amount of pushback I got for suggesting digital sales are higher than retail sales on the Playstation platform, which is supported by Sony financial reports, that is being argued against by mainly Nintendo fans (at least in this thread), makes me want to ask you all the same thing. Could my initial post have been better? Sure. But what's the point if users in this thread are arguing against official data anyway?

That 80% digital split is for Q4 of FY20 for the PS4/PS5, the digital split for FY20 for the PS4/5 is 65%, I could post the link again but many of you won't even bother to click it lol.

- One would imagine PS5 has a much higher digital ratio compared to PS4 and digital sales aren't tracked by famitsu.
- PS4 had more frequent software entries because it benefitted from PSVita ports that would frequently chart for a week or 2.
- PS4 had 2 very strong releases in its first 2 months (Battlefield 4 and MSGV) that kept charting. Surprisingly Battlefield is one of the biggest 3rd party titles in Japan, far bigger than COD for example.
- PS4 was not BC and didn't have PlayStation collection so inherently should have a slightly higher software attachment ratio as people needed to buy PS4 games to enjoy their console.

End year charts for PS4 in 2014 discounting Knack which was bundled:
1. MGSV (142k)
2.Yakuza, Ishin (137k)
3.Destiny ( 124k)
4.Battledfield 4 (118k)
5. Watchdogs (94k)

For comparison, I would wait to see how comparative software performs on PS5 this year: RE8, FFVII Integrade, next gen Battlefield, Tales of Arise etc. Of course PS5 matching PS4's sales would still result in smaller famistu numbers if a higher proportion of those sales are digital.

Its most likely the higher digital ratio, in line with the Sony financial reports for FY20, that some Nintendo fans in these threads can't accept. Either that, or the PS brand is inexplicably stronger in Japan despite the higher price point and lack of Japanese centric software, or the Dualsense is a system seller. Maybe its a combination of all of the above. I doubt BC is a huge difference maker at all though.

Do you seriously have no idea why some Nintendo fans pushed back at you?

You pretty much asked them to.  Had you just stuck with your point, which is about digital sales ratio, instead of trying to take a stealth jab at Nintendo fans, you probably would have been left alone.  By singling out Nintendo fans the way you did, it came across as more of a statement in regards to the imaginary console war that a vocal sect of all three camps often get caught up in.

Now you may not have intended it that way, but it is pretty obvious that you derailed your own point before a Nintendo fan even replied to you in the first place.
