N64.
Nintendo arrogance and fear of pirates made that system the PS3 of its generation. It had a bunch of great games but the system and cartridges were expensive and no one really could afford them. If only had they went CD based, all there developers would not have jumped ship. Imagine if Nintendo had given what the developer wanted and not made their system a developer nightmare, they would have easily beaten Sony's PS1.
Now Sony follows in the same footsteps as Nintendo did. Hmmm I wonder if its the curse of the third console system.
Think about it.
Sega Master > Genesis > Sega Saturn.
NES > SNES > N64
PS1 > PS2 > PS3
Somebody better warn Microsoft...
