But if I'm not wrong last generation was PS4 / Wii U / Xbox One ?

So this gen is Switch / PS5 / Xbox Serie X|S no ?

----------------------

PS4 / Game Boy will be ultra close at Lifetime sales. It will be funny when the numbers will be almost the same .

Gens are an archaic classification in regards to the multi brand console market, it just doesn't work, one console may be competing with multiple iterations of the same brand, little is in sync as it once was

Exactly! Obviously, the Wii U coming out one year before PS4 and Xbox One was compared to them as they are all the same generation. The Wii U had an abnormal life span for a Nintendo home home console, only 4 1/4 years until the Switch came out in March 2017. Nintendo was forced to come out with a successor early as the Wii U was a BIG failure. Interestingly, the Switch came out roughly right in the middle of the life span of the PS4 and Xbox One before their successors came out in Nov. 2020. In other words, when the Switch came out, PS4 and Xbox One where full of life and strength. Naturally then, the Switch is compared to PS4 and Xbox One. The Switch is an anomaly in regards to generations: Although, a successor to both, the Wii U and 3ds, both regarded as 8. generation consoles, the Switch isn't really a 9. generation console, more like a 8.5 generation. Anyway, I don't mind if it is also compared to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. They both won't beat it anyway.
