Finally was able to complete the Top 50 for 2021 this week, as I wanted to at least have games that surpassed 5K in there. The Top 50 games this year are likely to be between 6.25M to 6.5M by the end of the Quarter due to the launch of Monster Hunter Rise next week. Last year the Top 50 achieved over 22 million sales, so this year being the peak in terms of Software and hardware sales we can expect something closer to 30 million physical.

The major difference will be platform splits, PS4/PS5 managed a respectable 17% of Software sales last year, while this year it does seem that it would be a major problem to even reach 5%, with such a strangle hold on the market - it's not surprising that certain AA projects might become entirely Switch exclusives if they are Japanese focused. This has already happened to Baseball Spirits by Konami, a franchise usually associated with the PlayStation ecosystem. This is a continuation of what I talked about mid of last year, as we were speculating on the PS5 launch, as expected the PS4/PS5 failed to surpass 1 million units combined last year and I very much doubt the PS5 will manage to surpass 1 million this year either.

Nier Replicant & Resident Evil: Village are the first major games on the ecosystem for 2021.. So for me that's when we would get a few questions answered
