Meanwhile, we're getting first leaks of Zen 4 in form of Genoa, so next gen's Epyc chips:

  • The amount of CPU chiplets will increase from 8 to 12 while still holden 8 cores, so 96 cores in total.
  • Top Model will see it's TDP rise from 280W to 320W, and can be configured up to even 400W, thus nullifying Intel's Power advantage when they glue 2 Xeons together.
  • A crazy 12 channels of up to DDR5-5200 RAM.
  • 128 PCI-E 5.0 lanes; 160 lanes in 2P systems.
  • The socket is absolutely gynormous, with 6096 pins. That's 50% more than on the current platform, which only comes with 4094 pins!
  • New instructions include AVX-512 and BFloat-16, which are very much used in Machine Learning and AI. This could be extremely damaging to Intel if they loose their advantage there.

So yeah, looks already like Zen 4 will be a beast.
