So if you watch a game on Youtube and you think "This game looks boring and I hate the story" all the way through. That can all change completely after playing the game for yourself? Just seems like an excuse because you yourself love the game so much. Not saying that is the case, it just kinda comes off that way.

Now TLOU2 is my GOTY, but I still think its interesting to hear from people who didnt like it. Doesnt make the game any less enjoyable to me.

Sometimes I play games and don't like the story.  Gameplay is still the saving grace, and trumps story.

Death stranding for example, to me looked boring from what I saw online, but experiencing was totally different. The feel of the controls was tight and realistic, it was more personal when playing on my own no distractions, was immersed in the world, I had to think for my self and things were at stake. It's a totally different experience when you are given the pwer of control.  Games like minecraft and animal crossing don't appeal to me at all, and I think how on earth can someone play that, but I bet if I let my mind go play it for a few hrs there is a 50% chance I might like it.

That's an iffy excuse to limit the entire game down to only it's controls, especially when you have to consider the fact that TLOU II is centred around a core story, that's been going since the first game.

Even for a game like Minecraft, you see people putting build videos for all to see, so they can visually learn from the crafter on how to build a specific object, all without having to stare down at a peripheral or having to have their hands on said peripherals at the time of watching the tutorial, but the "feel" ultimately isn't going to matter, when with a game like Minecraft, the visual build is what's going to matter, and you see it not only by watching the youtuber showing off the tutorial, but the end result of you yourself building that object.

People can absolutely like DS for it's gameplay, but Kojima isn't the kind of dev who just makes a game and chucks out the story. The story is all around you in that game, from dialogues with NPC's, to flashbacks, to cutscene sequences etc. The game play is what moves you from sequence to sequence, but ultimately, with a game like DS, the story is what's going to matter and it's main focus, the diddling around on a bike across the mountains is the added bonus to letting you explore it's world, like you being able to walk around and shoot NPC's in TLOU II.
