Technology won't be a problem to make a worthy Switch successor when there is a long term partnership with Nvidia.

The concerning part is the typical thinking that Nintendo needs ports of AAA third party games and that should dictate when the Switch successor launches and how powerful it needs to be. If Nintendo were to adopt that kind of thinking, then there's a good chance that they'll mess it up, such as launching too early, with too low battery life, too high of a price, or any combination of the aforementioned. The PS4 and XB1 will already face token support in 2022, so if Nintendo followed the line of thinking in the OP, they'd have to launch a Switch successor during the first half of 2023 which is far too soon when you consider Switch's sales curve.

Yeah, I think they have everything in hand for making a system way better than what they could come up with at the time Switch was being developed. I believe I'm just afraid they will screw up, mainly said relation with NVidia. And I didn't say they had to release a successor in 2 years, just that they could, and even then the timing would be good for them. Later than that, even better for the company. If they manage to keep the sales curve, with minor dips, for the next three years or so it would be mind-blowing for me (not that I don't think it's possible; just because it would be something somewhat new when Nintendo related) and an even better scenario for their next machine. I hope they can pull it off.

As for the AAAs, I agree that they do not absolutely need them, but those ones do make an impact. Someone said, in this very forum iirc, that Doom was the turning point in the life of the Switch, even more than Zelda, not because of sales potential, attach rate or gameplay possibilities, but because it had shown what was possible on the little machine, and I tend to agree. If they are given 2, 3 or even 4 more years from now to present a successor, I think people will expect something pretty capable visual-wise. I know I will.  :p
