That's exactly my point!, Why unlock, a green colour weaponskin/Winter themed character skin/particular weapon execution/Mexico Banner when you would never use it? But if I want I can easily unlock it without spending anything. A look at the community and you see no one is complaining. Want the Honda car you have to play the game for a bit, anyway feel you are commenting to the wrong user tho. |
The thing is I can catch every Poke'mon I want without having to grind. I just play naturally and get every one that I want. In a game like League of Legends, if I wanted to collect every champion that I thought was fun, I'd have to play for hundreds upon hundreds of hours. The question is, is Gears 5 like Poke'mon, or is it like League of Legends? How long would it take to get 25% of all character skins? How long will it take three years from now when there are even more skins? Serious question BTW. Not hypothetical. Please answer.
@The Thread In General...
I think a lot of companies that try to strong arm their way into the game industry will do whatever it takes to maximize profit. If that means weaponizing FOMO, adding MTX, and actively trying to punish you for leaving to play another game, then they will do it. "If you leave to play another game, then you'll miss out on the battle pass, and this new LIMITED TIME ONLY SKIN!!!! BUY NOW!" They'll employ more skinner box techniques to keep you hooked on a game you don't really enjoy. A game can be compelling, but not fun. If you ever find yourself cursing at an online multiplayer game guess what? You've been played. The company has you mentally conditioned to play the game at that point. You aren't having fun anymore. You are there to entice your friends to play, and keep the playercount up, which keeps the game alive. You are the product.
