In the bolded part you talk about production value, and I find it concerning that you seemingly put that as a deciding criterion for game quality. Going after this, no AAA gamecan ever be seen as bad, as at least the poured enough resources into it to create shiny graphics and modern systems. But a game with low production value like Among Us, can be so much more enjoyable than a soulless AAA game. Sure, using all capabilities of the system can be verys good, but only if it supports an actual good game at it's core. My comment shouldn't be projected at TLOU2 or Pokemon Sw/Sh in particular, as I played neither game and have no opinion on them. But I would object on a general principle to putting too much importance on big budget production value. |
You are completely right and I agree with you, but I was making a comparison between those 2 games and I can't think any aspect where Pokemon could stay in the same level as TLOU
The value production is important for me, it's not an indie vs high budget production comparison, rather two games with pretty much the same sales potential so yes I expect production value for a franchise like Pokemon to be very high, if it not comes then it's a week point imo
There are games where the gameplay experience lowkey justify smaller production value, as the game won't get any better with higher budgets (Fall Guys, Pikimin for instance), but Pokemon is an RPG that focus on exploration and is certainly NOT one of those games. In reality Pokemon games are in a desperate need of higher production budget, if you go to see how ugly and unfinished Wild Area looks like you will understand what I mean
