Colour me not at all surprised.

If people actually want to make a donation to mental health charities in Etika's name, Nintendo is not stopping them. It's frankly disrespectful to the deceased and his family to use his death as to weaponise a community the way this guy is.

I can't believe this guy's for real. -_-

Who me? Look admittedly maybe I was a bit harsh, but it seems to me that if you're going to raise money for mental health and suicide prevention in the name of a beloved community figure, you should probably do so in a more straightforward way that steers clear of legal issues.

He could have set up a fundraiser in Etika's name without bringing the joycons into it, but people are acting as if Nintendo has banned donating money to charity.

I could be wrong, but seems as though he's played fast and loose with intellectual copyright law and then tried to weaponize community sentiment to his side when he the company asserted control of its property. Nintendo has to be consistent in keeping control of their IP or they risk opening the floodgates.
