While Switch sales are great it does leave reason for concern. Hopefully this is just Nintendo saving shipments for later weeks. Will wait for next weeks figures to determine if Switch will outsell last years holidays.

They are ready to open the floodgates next week with the Ring Fit Bundle

  • November: Ring Fit Bundle (Nintendo), Sakuna (Marvelous), Age of Calamity (Koei Tecmo), Momotaro (Konami), Taiko: Rhythmic Adventure Pack (Bandai Namco)
  • December: Fit Boxing 2 (Imagineer), Derby Stallion (Game Addict), Atelier 2(Koei Tecmo), Puyo Puyo 2 (Sega), Family Trainer (Bandai Namco)
  • FY Q4 2020: Monster Hunter Rise (Capcom), Bowsers Fury (Nintendo), Olive Town (Marvelous), Bravely Default 2 (Square Enix), BOND (Koei Tecmo)

With this line-up I don't think you have anything to worry about, there is also games I'm probably forgetting about and unannounced titles that should arrive before the end of the FY.

2019 Comparison:

  • November: Pokemon Sword / Shield (Pokemon Co.), SD Gundam G Generation: Cross Rays (Bandai Namco Games)
  • December: One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 (Bandai Namco), Yo-Kai Watch 4++ (Level 5)
  • FY Q4 2019: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (Pokemon Co.), Animal Crossing: New Horizon (Nintendo), Persona 5 Scramble (Atlus), Hatsune Miku: Project Diva (Sega)

The lineup last year had Pokemon Sword / Shield and New Horizon but Monster Hunter Rise and Ring Fit/New Horizon sales can easily match that. On top of that Bowser's Fury, Age of Calamity, Momotaro, Olive Town and Bravely Default 2, Sakuna all have pretty huge potential. And games like Fit Boxing 2, Family Trainer, BOND, Derby Stallion, Atelier 2, Puyo Puyo 2 and Taiko can end up with surprising results, similar to how Sakuna blew up after it got great WOM.

Just watch out how Ring Fit starts selling >100K copies per week due to it's bundle and stock finally being plentiful. Coupled with New Horizon, Nintendo are in a perfect position this holiday even without a major title launching. The strength of their evergreens is just immense. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for example is set to have it's best holiday to-date and has already surpassed 600K for the year. Sword and Shield should surpass 1M easily for the year and 4M lifetime, thanks to additional content instead of a 3rd version. Pikmin is about to achieve a franchise record...

Physical you mean? According to Nintendo's financial report Pokemon had sold 4.21mil copies in Japan by the end of December 31, 2019.

Yep, just physical sales
