Bayonetta 2 and Tropical Freeze were also two of my favourite games of the generation but I'm not sure I would say they were "defining" games of the gen for me; as amazing as they were, they felt kinda more like Gen 7 games in terms of their feel/vibe/style, though I don't mean that in a negative way as Gen 7 is my favourite generation of gaming.
