The time span between Zeldas has been a lot shorter in recent years than you seem to think. One of them hits the console about every two years, so an E3 announcement for the game this Fall wouldn't be out of the question.

Yep that is true.  I would love to see some sorta teaser at E3...but I'm not really counting on it. .

Also just for reference as to the announce vs release date for Zelda titles since OoT.  Taken from http://purenintendo.com/2008/06/29/why-nintendo-should-announce-a-new-zelda-and-ds-at-e3/

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Announced - December 1995

Released - November 1998

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

Announced - June 1999

Released -October 2000

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Announced - August 2001

Released - March 2003

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Announced - May 2004

Released - November 2006

It makes sense but Nintendo announces their game so close to release nowadays.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...
