Digital Foundry are certainly singing it's praises. "best looking game releasing this year" and "might go down as one of the best launch titles of all time". It's interesting to note that all footage we have seen so far is from the 60fps performance mode, rather than the 30fps high graphics mode. Which is unusual.

Edit: Apparently the 60fps mode has been optimized further too and pushing higher resolution, now runs in dynamic 4k rather than a straight 1440p.

I find it difficult to agree with Mr. Linneman on this one. It has been confirmed in a Polygon interview that, much like every other Bluepoint game to date, they have only changed the surface of the game: the visuals. Everything else functions exactly as it did in PS3 because they haven't touched the game's logic. So... we are literally playing the same game that was launched on PS3. True, it has far superior graphics, framerate and no loading times. And I'm looking forward to play it as much as everyone else. But at its core it's not just "a faitful recreation", which would imply they have remade the games internals. No, they have just copy pasted. It's essentially a very elaborated and oficial mod.

I can't qualify Demon's Souls (PS5) as one of the best launch games of all time because we already played it over 10 years ago. I can't praise Bluepoint games for nothing other than their impecable visual reconstruction, because they haven't "made" the game. They just made it prettier. Which is absolutely fine, but let's not get crazy over there. Bluepoint still has to prove that they can actually make a true videogame on their own before getting this kind of praise.
