Okay so I didn't get a chance to play it myself as my brother loved it so much he played it until the Kart ran out of power, which took about an hour and 40 minutes.

The AR has some really cool touches, like faking an effect of your floor being lit by the enemy karts, or the confetti from your victory landing on the ground. It's not perfectly stable, but it's more so than any other AR game I've seen to date.

There's a good variety of course features/hazards in Grand Prix including Kamek mirroring your room mid lap and virtual wind blowing your kart slightly, and new karts and outfits unlock in a well paced manner that makes you wanna keep playing to get more.

The only real issue we had was when we had a course where the Kart would go behind our couch so that the signal had to travel through said couch to the Switch, the feed stuttered a bit; not to game-ruining degree but it was noticeable.

Setup time is less than I was expecting, the gates for example can be unfolded in like 30 seconds or less, and though you do need to jump through a few hoops to sync your Kart and lay out a course, it's not like Labo and on the whole should only take about 5-10 minutes to set up a race. I'm actually not sure if the Kart comes charged as we put plugged it in as soon as we opened the box on the assumption it wasn't. Once we cleared away some tables and chairs we had a roughly four meter by four meter space in which to race and that proved more than adequate.

On the whole he's very happy with it.
