Speaking of Rare's games, and someone mentioned this one above, I did find Banjo Kazooie to be quite impressive, graphically, when it came out. I also really liked Diddy Kong Racing's graphics. Rare was usually impressive in the graphical department.

Honestly, though, I have to admit, the real "wow!" games for me that generation, from a graphical standpoint, were not on Nintendo consoles. Even though FF7 had some of the shittiest quality character art, the background graphics had a profound impact on me. Then FF8 really stepped it up across the board. Then Sonic Adventure and Skies of Arcadia really impressed me a lot at the end of the generation - while Dreamcast is technically considered part of the following generation -IMO it was more of a cusper console, half in the N64/PSX generation, and half in the PS2 generation.
