Being audited by the IRS is a few steps short of being accused of tax fraud.  If it's just tax lawyers arguing over whether a line of the tax code should have applied or not, which I believe is the case, then it's a fairly mundane process.

True, but he used that excuse already 4 years ago. Being under audit for 4 years straight ain't exactly a good sign in that regard.
