That was my thought too watching the TGS stream; not sure whether it was youtube compression, but everything in the TGS showing looked so much more crisp and clean.

My previous impressions were that it looked just okay graphically, but now I'd say it's above average for the platform.

With so much of the Switch library being ports from other platforms, its interesting to see what can be achieved when devs build from the ground up for it.

I'm not saying this too just act like a great predictor or something but, I kind of assumed this would happen?

I'm pretty sure the trailer for that Direct was sort of old, and the demo it was using was probably even older. Honestly wouldn't be shocked if the reveal trailer was using a January-March build, even if the trailer itself wasn't that old. Whereas I assume this livestream was using a much more recent, if still well-tested, demo build.

This is kind of usual for a MH game but the monsters themselves are the standout, Tetranadon, the amphibian from the demo hunt, just looks and moves in a such a lifelike way, such great animation, plus the texturing of his skin and the shaggy moss growing on him.

Even in MH Tri on Wii I remember being really impressed by the monsters.
