Sony only buys certain studios fine, but they are annoyingly active in trying to block other platforms from content. FF7R exclusivity for a year, FF16 exclusivity for a year, blocking Spider-Man in other versions of Avengers (how fucking petty is this)?, now there's talk of a MGS1 Remake that they've money hatted.

So sorry I don't feel bad if someone finally walloped Sony upside the head. Sony's been block content from other platforms for decades, it's hard to feel sympathy for them when they pushed someone too big and now got pushed back onto their ass.

A large part of that is the simple fact that Final Fantasy sells poorly on Xbox, as does pretty much every other Japanese franchise. Setting aside Xbox's bad performance in Japan, even in the US the series sells far better on PlayStation. So that's just as much on the Xbox userbase as it is on Sony.

From neogaf: Sony bought their way into the videogame industry in the first place, that very concept of the Playstation 1 console is a money hat!! ?????? After the Nintendo relationship collapsed Sony Corp. Wrote Krazy Ken a big fat cheque
Financially they dwarfed Nintendo and Sega and crippled the Saturn in particular with that infamous mic drop price at E3 (any of you think that was cheap?). During PS1 era Sony bought Psygnosis (which at the time was a multiplat studio) and moneyhatted Tomb Raider so the sequels got delayed or didn't go to Saturn and N64. The first game was a big success on Saturn, PS and PC.
Psygnosis made game multiplat for a year into PS1 and then Sony seemed to cut them off from other platforms. And we dont even need to talk about how they hobbled the Dreamcast with PS2 hype.
