Apart from the Nintendo faithful who have stuck it out through the 'hard times' in the Playstation era, the new generation of non-gamers are buying the Wii specifically for the controller, whether it's the Wii Fit board or the Wii-mote. This I think is about half-true. The people who buy the Wii buys it for the experience, not the way it's controlled. You do not buy the machine, you buy the job the machine does, the experience it gives you and what you use it for. The peripherals are an integral part of Nintendo's strategy, but not the only part. Games are really important too, and I think that Wii would have been last in the race right now if it hadn't been for Wii Sports. For that reason, do you think it's possible that Nintendo will announce more peripherals at E3 and in the future? Also, do you think it's possible the Wii's sales will be cut down by the introduction of Sony and Microsoft's waggle-motes when they reach a similar price-point to the Wii? Yes. The likelyhood of Nintendo announcing new peripherals at E3 is really high. No, unless Microsoft and Sony can promote their consoles in such a way that the percieved experience gotten from their console is the same as Nintendo's the Wii sales will continue unabated. And never forget that people do not buy things because they are cheap, people buy things because they WANT them. Price is essentially just a barrier STOPPING people from buying what they want. |
Your argument is not quite so full of holes as people here seem to think. The main reasoning is valid, but not complete.
