I certainly didn't. And chances are that even the people you're referring to could be talking about wanting new games they pay $60-70 for to be developed for the new hardware as much as possible. 
These are old games we seemingly get for free, provided you have PS Plus already.

It depends on what you want to spend your money on. Game Pass is an additional subscription service on top of XBL.
If there are not enough games on offer that you'd consider buying, you may also not want to pay the subscription fee.

Provided PS Plus Collection doesn't jack up the yearly cost of PS Plus, this is a free bonus for those who already planned on getting PS Plus.

I feel like there's probably some games there that PS4 owners haven't played. At least from my perspective I have too much to play to even get around to games like Final Fantasy 15, and I've been a huge FF fan since forever.

I only got past the second dungeon in the original Persona 5, so I don't know if that counts, but I crossed it off anyway.

So if I get PS5, I'd be interested in playing Resident Evil 7 for free. Why not.
I'd say Final Fantasy XV as well, but I'll probably get the Royal Edition instead.

I HIGHLY recommend Bloodborne and Ratchet & Clank. Those games are two of my all-time faves. Not for everyone so there's a good chance you'll hate Bloodborne, but if you like it you'll most likely love it. In my experience, there's not a lot of middle ground between those extremes.
