Well the article says nothing about hardware plans. But what those hardware plans are isn't clear. They haven't announced end to production, and typically lastgen production continues to be relevant in non-core markets (which American article doesn't seem focused on). If they are continuing production, it would make sense for new production standard to use newer process for APU... possibly even offering discless version? Certainly the hardware question seems relevant to topic of PS4's ongoing relevance, but doesn't seem like it's been publically addressed so far.
