If Pele was playing today he would be trained by today standards so he would be stronger and faster, still his technique and game vision is still better than any of today so he would dominate today Soccer just as well.

If you want to talk about European Soccer at the time, Santos was twice worldwide champion against european teams and Brazil was three times world champion with Pele and smashing european national teams while at that.

Yeah, I was actually thinking of elaborating on what I said about what his player rating. Can't know for sure that Pele wouldn't be worthy of similar stats if he played in the current era. But rather, if he achieved similar accomplishments, they would be based on different merits.
And we'd have to see exactly how he would fit in before knowing. Though I'm sure he'd be great regardless.

Regarding the different leagues, I'm not sure how it was back then, though I think Europe was more competitive back then as well. But I was more referring to the Europe of today. Today it is by far ,more competitive than any league was in Pele's era. Because the industry grew to a multi billion industry. The 99 player rating legends of our era were playing against teams worth hundreds of millions, whose defenders studied endless footage of their opponent religiously. Pele didn't get to play against teams like that. And his opponents would never see 99.99% of the things he did, as they were not caught on camera. While nearly every thing current era players have ever done on a football field is readily available to watch.

A 99 of this era's achievements would be measured by how well they fare against clubs like modern day Real Madrid, and there's nothing comparable to that 50 years ago. So comparing the stats of a player rating 99 from 1960 vs 2010 is very difficult.

For national teams, I think South America has generally always been among the strongest, and I think less has changed there than it has for club football overall.
Though national teams are usually composed of players that only play with each other a few times a year, so team synergy is not developed to the same level that clubs achieve, who play and train together all year around. So I think national competitions are generally more fickle in that regard.

I guess you are using the wrong term when you say most competitive, perhaps it have stronger teams, but it is lot less competitive than Brazilian or Libertadores.

In Brazil at any given year at least 10 teams have a real chance of winning the national championship, versus most European Leagues where it is 2 or 3 teams since the begining of the championship that stand a chance (and Libertadores would be similar I would say). Don't forget that besides perhaps last decade a lot of Brazilian teams were able to beat the UEFA champions on the World Championship.

For you to have an idea the teams with most wins on our national championship

And if you were to be really strict on the counting Palmeiras and Santos would lose 5 of their wins each.

So we have 17 teams that have won the championship, the most wins if considered only the "modern" championship is 7, with 9 teams winning at least 3 times.

Compare that with Spain for example that have Barcelona and Real Madrid dominating their championship you have only 9 teams that won at least once, with the team that won more time having 34 wins, 5 teams winning at least 3 times and a big drop in wins when you go for the 3rd or 4th team with most wins. So is La Liga more competitive than Brazil championship? I woulnd't say so. If you bet Real Madrid or Barcelona will win you are most likely to get it right, in Brazil if you bet in 2 teams you probably have less than 30% odd of getting it right.
