The point is that Ripley wants to save the cat, because she cares about the lives of others, and also because she doesn't want to be completely alone after such a traumatic experience.

The life of a cat is no different than the life of another human being.

I dont value the life of a cat equal to a human being.

And I would risk my life only for a very loved person.
