Instead of listing my Top Ten (which is hard to pin down), I'll talk a bit about one of my favorite movies and maybe add other posts about my other favorites down the line when I have time.
So, one of my all-time favorites is Jurassic Park. I was 13 when it came out in theaters and boy was I hooked. I went to see it 7 times during it's long run at my local cinema and I read the book 3 times. Back then, I was amazed at the special effects (which still hold up today) and loved the tense actions sequences (T-Rex attack, the raptors relentless hunt for the main characters in the visitor center). When I watched it recently, I still enjoy those sequences a lot but I've come to realize that one of my favorite scene from the movie is actually from the moment the leave the helicopter to the point where they see the dinosaurs for the first time, with the iconic phrase "Dr. Grant, my dear Dr. Sattler, welcome to Jurassic Park", all of this framed by John Williams' incredible score.
Even though we all knew what they were about to see, the sense of wonder you get to feel through Dr. Grant and Sattler as they see what they've been studying for years in the flesh, gives me chills everytime. It's one thing the movie does very well, it makes you believe this park is possible, it makes you dream about how awesome it would be.
