So almost dying was better than not having video games to play?

If you honestly think that, you seriously need to take a step back and reevaluate your priorities.

Maybe not literally but it's not far off.

Being afraid for my life sucked, as did major surgery and having to learn to walk again.

But in a world of constant stress and anxiety, video games are my escape, my refuge, a way to feel okay. Exciting news and having games to look forward to gave a sense of positivity and hope in an otherwise relentless frightening and depressing world. Having that taken away, it's just horrible. Hardly feels worth getting out of bed in the morning any more.
