So! This game comes out tomorrow and I haven't been this engaged with a game's launch since, well, I guess Final Fantasy VII Remake! Just wanted to know who else was going to be picking the game upon PS4 or Switch. I know I played this game as a kid (I actually had 3 GBA cables and 3 GBA consoles, so we could actually play multiplayer on this and on The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures). I never beat the game since collaborating and scheduling 2-3 player co-op was a pain in the butt, but I loved every minute of it and I've been excited for the game's release ever since then.

While I was a little disappointed they were removing couch co-op from the game, I rejoiced when I heard they were releasing a free version to anyone who has a PS4 or a Switch, and with this free version you can play 3 dungeons either by yourself or with others who have the free game. However, the cool part is that, if you have the free version and you play online with a friend who owns the game, you can basically play the entirety of the original game with them! This is pretty cool, and allows you to more or less emulate couch co-op with three free players online. It's not as good as HAVING couch co-op (I figure it's possible to link to your cellphone, like Jackbox games do), but it's an acceptable substitute.

Plus, it's cross-play, so if you have it on PS4 and your buddy has it on Switch, you can play together. This makes me happy and means I'll have plenty of people to play with regardless of friend group or platform.

The original didn't get GREAT reviews back in the day, but they were all reasonably well-liked. Plus, I do think that 90% of the reason the game's scores ranged from 75-80 for the most part was the complicated nonsense that was the multiplayer requirements. Anywho, I figure this'll get 78 on Metacritic (I imagine many reviewers will bemoan the lack of couch co-op, which is a fair but unfortunate loss).

Oh, and apparently the game has 13 NEW dungeons, effectively doubling the length of the game via post-game content. or so I hear. It's been a long time since I played and 13 dungeons sounds really short for a game. Well, it is only 30 bucks (40 in Canada), so that seems fair. Oh, and if you have the 'free' version of the game, you can't play any of those new dungeons or areas, only the original base game that came on the gamecube.

So, who else is getting this?
