I went through the Annual Report 2020 of Nintendo (link: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/news/index.html) and there are two interesting things:

1. Quality of Life (QoL) is not dead: On page 17 it says: "Moreover, we are working on the development of a new product that improves people’s QoL (Quality of Life) in enjoyable ways."

2. Nintendo is growing: On page 19 we see that they spend USD 138 mil. into Research & Development facilities. The project started in April 2019 and they paid already USD 62 mil. The outstanding USD 76 mil. will be paid until March 2022 when the project should be finished.
There are two more projects within the same time frame (April 2019 – March 2022): I. Production facilities for molds, etc. (total amount: USD 83 mil., USD 2 mil. already paid), II: Renovation, updating, etc. of other buildings, etc. (total amount: USD 166 mil., USD 93 mil. already paid)

This gives me a slight hope that this new facility will be the home for a new in-house development team, developing new games.
