I don't think it's very likely we'll get a generation without a new Street Fighter. At worst, they only focus on one fighting game (SFVI) the entire generation, but they wouldn't abandon the entire genre. If anything, what's more likely to happen is they mostly focus on Street Fighter throughout the gen, then release like a revival of a smaller fighting game IP towards the end of the generation if they have enough confidence in their fighting game division.

Yeah, Street Fighter is still by far the biggest name in fighting games. There's no way they just suddenly abandon it lol.

Marvel vs. Capcom is likely on hiatus though. Which is a shame. MvC3, while nowhere as good as the classic MvC2, was honestly still a lot of fun, and especially great for tournaments. For years in tournaments it was often the hypest event of the day. MvCI was a complete dud.

I don’t think you can even argue that SF is the biggest name in fighting games anymore, at least outside of a small enthusiast community. In real numbers, that would be Super Smash Bros. Mortal Kombat 11 and Tekken 7 also both did better than SF 5. That’s what Capcom cares about. The company as a whole has been enjoying a renaissance that Street Fighter completely missed.
