| Leynos said: If Rare doesn't even know what the gameplay of Everwild is going to be yet then WTF was the point of showing it? For art style? Big whoop. If there is no gameplay then I don't care as a person watching and potential customer. Gameplay trailers only. Man what a concept. Showing gameplay for a video game. You can show all the CGI or art concept videos all you want but if no gameplay then what is the point? I wish Nintendo, MS ad Sony would stop showing a pre-rendered trailer for a game that is years away. Don't show us until about a year from launch. Otherwise, it just causes frustration when there is no news. SMTV was debated as vaporware until a week ago and Bayonetta 3 is nowhere to be seen for 3 years. Nintendo mentioned it once a year and a half ago and so quickly it was a fart in the wind. DMCV was the perfect reveal. 2018 E3. We get a trailer of Nero in a new art style. Fans wonder where is Dante? THERE HE IS! End of the trailer. Full of DMC gameplay and story. We only had to wait until March of the next year with a couple new trailers in between and news info. The proper way to announce and hype up a game and one long wanted. |
That happen more often than you think. The Last Guardian is a good(and bad (for the time it took the be released)) example.
You can show all the CGI or art concept videos all you want but if no gameplay then what is the point? Well can you think of a game show that had more gameplay than CGI trailer or in engine rendering. I certainly can't.
I wish Nintendo, MS ad Sony would stop showing a pre-rendered trailer for a game that is years away. I understand your point, but you can bet devs studio are not with you on this one. They want their vision to be seen, their project to be talk about as early as possible. That's is especially true with new IPs.
