An early example of shock rap storytelling, the sort that was later made VERY popular by Tupac and Eminem.
Speaking of Tupac's storytelling songs, this one gets HEAVY thematically, especially during the Angelique verse where she sings about getting raped by her step dad. From the 1991 album 2Paclypse Now (which is one of my two favourite Pac albums, the other Strictly for My N.I.G.G.A.Z. which features the brilliant Papaz Song, and Keep Ya Head Up which is often considered Tupac's best song - it's basically his political tribute to the struggles of black women who he feels have it even worse than black men, he expands on this with the song Dear Mama on his next album Me Against the World. Back to 2Pacalypse Now, this album is more political - Brenda's Got a Baby is the tragic story of an underage mother who is abused by her family and turns to prostitution to support herself when her family steals her childcare funds, and then gets murdered. There's If My Homie Calls which is probably the most positive song off the album, which is basically a song about friendship and loyalty. I don't Give a Fuck is a story about his run-ins with authorities and is great song to listen to if you wanna blow off steam. Most people like All Eyez on Me the best, but I'm actually not a huge fan of that one and tend to even prefer his posthumous stuff which was recorded in the Me Against the World era (which I also really like as an album). I'll stop talking and post the song.
Then 1999's Slim Shady LP (which IMO is his underrated masterpiece, the album that established him and defined who he was as a rapper for the next 5 years) brought had some interesting stories told on it dealing with drugs, murder, and ultra-violence. Although Bonnie and Clyde is the sequel to a song that didn't get released until the Marshal Mathers LP (Kim, which features the brutal murder of Eminem's wife; Bonnie and Clyde pick up the story as he disposes the daughter in front of his daughter Hallie. This is the song I wanted to play, though. My Fault, a story about Eminem corrupting an "innocent" girl he knows named Susan by giving her mushrooms:
