You didn't say "the average joe" you said no one cares about frame rate or resolution when playing a game. Obviously that is complete nonsense and factually wrong, so go ahead and shift goalposts to say casual gamers or "average joe's" don't care about them. Of course, the average joe doesn't really care about any of the stuff you normally rant about. It's a silly argument to make. Do you think Uncharted 4 is a good game? Well, the average joe PS4 owner didn't even buy it. See? Silly. Lots of people care about graphics and frame rate. Otherwise DigitalFoundry wouldn't exist. There wouldn't be a million different ways you can build a gaming PC because if no one cared about those things then every manufacturer would just have one or two products. We wouldn't be seeing a 10TF PS5 because who cares about graphics or frame rate, PS4 seemed fine? Why do you keep asking me about some of the highest rated games of this gen? Not once have I or anyone in this thread said a game must be 4k or run at 60+ FPS to be good. You know what would have made BOTW even better? Or RDR2 even better? 60 FPS. But not being 60+ FPS doesn't make any of those games automatically bad. And for the record no, I didn't really care for any of them, though I am not that far into LoU2. Or God of War for that matter. That and Days Gone are two PS4 games in my backlog to finish.
There's a lot of nonsense in this post. For starters I didn't join this forum until 2012, which was like seven or eight years after the 360 launched and only a year before Xbone. So yeah, I didn't really "challenge" anyone gloating about how 360 games looked a tiny bit better or ran a bit better than PS3 games because I wasn't here. Secondly if those Xbox users are gone then who gives a flying fuck? Lastly all you're doing is making my case for me. So during the 7th gen one side cared about resolution and graphic fidelity. This gen the other side cared about it. Welp, sounds like I was right and people care about graphic fidelity and frame rate. I myself downplayed the visual difference between the Xbone and PS4 because it wasn't a big difference, and I still don't hesitate to turn off pretty graphics on my Scorpio if it means a higher frame rate. Hope that helped. |
Last gen it seemed to matter until the end of the gen, this one I just remember threads about it or extesive discussing for the first year or first couple years, after that hardly saw any comparison. And yes, the "importance" of the specs change according to who is leading to each fanbase not sure from where you think that is novel.
