The game even proves what you say wrong, Ellie is hell bent on revenge, but we still see her show regret, remorse, conflict and horror at the things she has done.

That is the point.

I don't you understand the dynamics between the two. Both seek revenge.

Abby is completely dominated by her revenge. She possessed by it. She lives for that revenge.

Ellie does not. Ellie, ironically, is what you describe in your previous post.
