I get it, you clearly have explained yourself. And yet I prefer Xbox. To put it short I tend to miss older games and like the idea of revisiting them alongside newer ones. I beat a lot of 360 games I missed, great games and I’m glad I was able to do that. With Sony that doesn’t seem to be a priority. Yes yes they put out amazing new games to forget about the old and that’s fine. I just feel the BC program Xbox is doing speaks to me far more then what Sony is doing.
Overall I prefer FPS, racing, Wrpgs and anything turn based. Halo covers the shooter itch but has imo one of the greatest extensive lore in gaming with dozens of novels and the like. I haven’t seen a PS Ip with anywhere near that level of Sci fi detail and world building (galaxy building to be precise). Forza Motorsport and especially Horizon are the best platform specific racers imo as I like sim but really prefer the arcade style that Horizon does.
I like Wrpgs. I had so much fun with Fable and especially the 2nd. It fell on hard times but I’m looking forward to it’s revival. Then you have Obsidan and Inexile. My Wrpg wants are now covered 3 times over by next month hopefully, where as I don’t see a big exclusive wrpg presence with PS.
I love MP titles. I played a lot of Halo, SoT, FH4 and Gears multiplayer. That’s just something I can’t find over at PS. They excel at making amazing games, but are confined to single player third person action adventure titles. That’s just not my thing. Gears and lately Hellblade cover those wants just fine and am looking forward to their sequels. I’m looking forward to Gears Tactics and Wasteland 3 when it comes to console and even Flight Simulator. I find myself trying games and genres I previously didn’t consider. Xbox has a ton of genre representation with their 1st party.
Game Pass has allowed me to play a ton of games and save hundreds. I played 20 games last year alone on GP, again I tend to miss games that I ought to play. I broke even on Gears 5 and Outer Worlds alone. Because Xbox is losing they are forced to make better services that give you value, which benefits me. I know that if I went to PS I would be spending considerably more money to play the same multiplats I played on GP, so I appreciate keeping more of my own hard earned money.
Just giving you a perspective of someone like myself. I have 0 illusions that Xbox always did great and there were years that they let me down. And yet they still cater to me in a way PS never will. And right now, I feel like it’s 2007, sheer optimism of what’s to come.

a long time ago, when I was on the BoxOfficeMojo forums, this one dude used to argue with everyone over the summer of 2006 saying that Superman Returns - a rather infamous failure and one of the biggest box office disappointments of the last 20 years - was more successful than Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest - what was at the time only the third movie in history to crack 1 billion dollars at the international box office.
Arguing with you reminds me of summer 2006.
All you've got is 'but I like the holy trinity and backwards compatibility.' If Backwards compatibility and power (Xbox One X) mattered, this would be a far more interesting discussion. This entire 'discussion' has just been me typing out my thought process trying to figure out how the heck anyone still likes Xbox. You said your perspective, but I'm still having a remarkably hard time understanding how 'three franchises and old games' is enough to even remotely compare to what's available on PS4 or Switch.
The console wars are dead, I genuinely don't understand how anyone can still support the Xbox considering how little it offers. Then again (not to get political), some people still fly a confederate flag, I guess.
