Hard to say. If I had to guess PS5 will be pulling similar numbers as the last two generations, on home console only. Japanese gamers seem to like their handhelds many even preferring them over traditional ones. Though, not all games can translate well on there. Like mainline Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts games for example. And that's where a console like Playstation steps in, acting like a secondary console. Its kinda like the reverse over here for the west where most prefer playing on a TV with home consoles over something that is portable.

You need to read his posts more carefully. He mentioned that, since the PS4 fought the early part of its lifecycle against the WiiU and had the lion share, it lived uncontested. The PS4 also lived alongside the Vita in Japan. This won't be true with the PS5, so naturally the sales will decline, hence why Sony will most likely exit, like they did with Vita. If they do, that is great news for Nintendo to have a stronger presence worldwide, as it will enjoy games that taylor to the japanese and add those as offerings to the games they already offer to the West. It makes the Nintendo console more attractive overall and that's good for the worldwide competition of the 3 manufacturers.

Sony sell consoles worldwide and even in markets that make 100k sales. No reason for they to fully exit a country they sell second most and 10M at that.
