The New Wii-kly Bar Night

Your weekly Karaoke night at the local bar may be going the way of the dodo.
We keep hearing about Wii tournaments and Rock Band nights slipping into bar schedules, so it should come as no surprise that the local LA sports bar, Busby’s, picked up on the craze and held it’s own Wii gaming night. Of course, being a sports bar, what could be better than a rousing tournament of Wii Sports Boxing? There’s actually an answer to that one… A tournament of ladies only Wii Boxing.
The 16 woman tournament started around 8pm and it took only about an hour to plug through the ladder. Along the way, there were plenty of tequila shots, girly screams and boyfriends rooting on their ladies for a chance to win a Wii to take home. Of course, for many it was their first time trying their fists at Wii Boxing, though by the end of the evening these ladies had worked their way up to fully-fledged contenders.
Santa Monica local, Ashley Green, walked away with the top prize, while her runner up snagged a copy of Guitar Hero for the Wii. I can’t say I was surprised at the positive response for the event. Many late-arrivers were quickly disappointed that they had missed out on the tournament, and hoped that they could join in on the next Wii night.
