the Wii's final sales figure, whatever it may be will be important for a different reason to the PS2's high sales. The PS2 was riding the wave of the PS1, even though the DC was on the market, already half the price of the upcoming PS2 and had tons of good games, the massive amount of people that loved the PS1 stopped them from buying anything but the PS2 (sony pushed DVD and *snigger* broadband gaming a lot at this point too). I know this doesnt quite translate in the step from PS2 to PS3, but there are alot of factors to consider in this generation.
The Wii came from a previous generation's failure, which also came from the generation befores failure, to come from distant 2/3rd to distant first is incredible, especially when you consider it broke so many of the 'next generation' rules.
Either way, who cares? I certainly wont lose any sleep if the Wii ends up 10 or 15mill behind the PS2.
