The better format won.
All HD DVD had going for it was price, something that'll keep going down.
Blu-Ray had larger storage capacity, scratch proof discs, among other things going for it.
And honestly, had HD DVD not been fighting for it's life, would prices have been near as low as they were? Toshiba was losing money on every player they sold. Had HD DVD somehow won, prices would've gone right back up.
