I would say definitely. Gyro controls, when used correctly, can be much easier and more precise for aiming. You still get the silly waggle stuff from time to time that detracts from the controls and gameplay (Mario Odyssey, I'm looking at you), but developers have largely abandoned such gimmicks and are using it mainly to legit game better.
In defense of Mario Odyssey. It's motion controls aren't waggle. There's a lot of nuanced and advanced movements you can do with simple, directional gestures. It works well once you get used to it. But I do agree that mindless waggle controls with no actual though or nuance are thankfully a thing of the past.
