Switch vs PS4 – VGChartz Gap Charts – March 2020

Switch Vs. PS4 Global:

Gap change in latest month: 1,024,151 – PS4

Gap change over last 12 months: 3,487,899 – Switch

Total Lead: 4,875,794 - Switch

Switch Total Sales: 53,733,752

PS4 Total Sales: 48,857,958

March 2020 is the 37th month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for. During the latest month the gap grew in favor of the PlayStation 4 by 1.02 million units when compared to the Switch during the same timeframe. In the last 12 months the Switch has outsold the PlayStation 4 by 3.49 million units. The Switch is currently ahead of the PlayStation 4 by 4.88 million units.

The PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013, while the Nintendo Switch launched worldwide in March 2017. The Switch has sold 53.73 million units, while the PlayStation 4 sold 48.86 million units during the same timeframe.

The 37th month on sale for the Nintendo Switch is March 2020, while for the PlayStation 4 it is November 2016.

I believe months 37 and 38 correspond to the holidays for PS4.  For a holiday month PS4 hardly gained any ground on the Switch.  And they aren't going to catch up to Switch in month 38 either considering Switch is ahead by 4.9m.

Basically, this means that the "double helix" is broken.  Switch sales are permanently ahead of PS4.
