New York's healthcare system is finally starting to not meet the stress.  Here's hoping the increased capacity comes online soon.

Its not even close, to stressed yet.

Cuomo said theres 53,000+ hospital beds (and their working towards getting 140,000 beds).
Currently covid-19 only has 7,328 "extra" people hospitalised (in new york state) + 1,755 ICU patients.

New York has had 52,000+ confirmed cases.
7,328 hospitalised (~14,1%) (% might rise in days to come, cuz its early into it).

Shouldn't be a issue yet.

Edit:
Even the ventilator thingy isnt a issue yet.
1755 covid patients on ventilators out of 3000+ (with 4,000 extra in stock).
1755/7000 = more than fine.

^ the sucky news, is that once your on a ventilator with covid-19, your survival rate drops down below 50%.
