Amidst all the scariness of COVID-19, some positive stories regarding it:

- South Korean outbreak seems to be easing as recoveries outpace new cases

- John Hopkins researcher exploring using the antibodies from recovered patients as a treatment and quasi-vaccine

- Dutch scientists have identified an antibody that blocks the virus

- Distilleries are converting to making hand sanitizer and donating it for free

- All 14 temporary hospitals set up in Wuhan now closed for lack of new patients, with the outbreak there also subsiding

This COVID-19 thing is starting to freak me out. Thanks for the positive news.

Also, it looks like we're close to finding a medicine for it, but I'm not 100% sure. Part of the news says it's fake and dangerous, and the other part says it's working really nice.

Cheers.

Several medications have shown promising results in the lab or early tests, but the thing with medication is that you have to test it extensively to know for sure and that it works and that it's safe. For example, even if a drug is effective, it may have potentially dangerous side effects, it might cure most people but kill those who have diabetes, etc.

In the coming months as drugs are tested and assessed, we'll gain a better understanding of which ones are effective and safe.

The good news is we're already off to a flying start with so many already being tested, and most of them being pre-existing and already approved drugs that don't have to undergo the lengthy development process.
