I am not saying a game that wins 1 GOTY is GOTY, I am saying that the quality of the GOTY awards is what matters more.
A game that wins 10 GOTYs from the 10 biggest gaming sites to a game that won 50 GOTY awards from unknown, unpopular or unrealistic sites don't compare. In my book the game that won 10 of the bigger GOTY awards would be GOTY, weather you agree or not that is my opinion. You can claim the game that received a bunch of fluff GOTY awards if you like, that's entirely up to you.
Also stop trying to turn this into a brand comparison. I am stating that OverWatch won the major GOTY awards, the ones that mattered, UC4 I don't even know what it won, all I know is when it comes to the bigger gaming sites it didn't beat OverWatch. If you want to grasp at straws and say UC4 is the GOTY than you might as well agree that Death Stranding is GOTY too, even though it was beaten by many other titles on the major sites as well.
I pointed out that the industry is a mess with GOTY awards and they are giving out everywhere, not just to 1 or 2 titles. I brought up 2 Xbox games that won GOTY awards just like how the other guy stated Death Stranding won GOTY awards. If you want to cling to games that win awards than cling to ALL the games that win awards or don't cling at all.
