PC have free online until today. Sony and MS doesn't really offer servers for the MP. It is just a nick and dime against customers. Similar to how MS were locking Netflix behind Gold.

Yeah, PC is riddled with more cheaters more often. Developers generally run their own servers there so results mixed.

Free is good, but I think charging something makes sense too.

Charging to use apps was difficult to justify so its gone.
