I can't vouch for the first game but Witcher 2 is great and Witcher 3 even better, I'd highly recommend them. |
The first game is quite odd, mechanics-wise. The combat is likely to put off many gamers with its weird approach to combination and timing gameplay. The writing is pretty good and the setting and atmosphere are fantastic, so it might be worth a try anyway. I played through it once, it does provide some more insights into Geralt and some of his companions, as well as the world itself, which is the strongest point of Sapkowsky's works (in my opinion).
