Since this thread is solely about games as solution to a "problem", I may as well just bring up recent examples of systems that had to overcome misconceptions.

There were tons of complaints that the 360 had no games nearly all through 2006, but who dares to say the same thing two years later?

The DS started out much worse than the Wii and now, three and a half years after its launch, most people would agree that the handheld has a great library of games. Many gamers don't seem to remember how bad the DS's situation was three years ago. The memory of most people seems to be shortlived.

In two years time there probably won't be many people left who would claim that the Wii lacks core games, just a few diehard fans of other systems. The issue of not enough core games will solve itself over time and most gamers won't even remember the situation we are in today.

I remember it well. My DS collection hovered at around 5 games for well over a year. I can't even remember when it changed, but I woke up one morning and found a huge log of games I needed to buy. The Wii is doing so much better than the DS at this point it is amazing.
