Everything you said i can argue that Chrono Trigger did first and better. CT also still holds up batter today thanks to its sprites.
How did FF7 shape the future of JRPGs when it was basically FF6 with polygons and pre rendered backgrounds. Everything else remained the same.
Iv played and finished Zelda OoT, Chrono Trigger and FF7 and i just dont see the innovation you speak of. FF7 has a fantastic story thats basically it.
