Why exactly would Nintendo want to change their strategy?

Don't fix it if it ain't broke and Nintendo unlike Sony and MS is well in the Black this generation.

Yes with that kind of strategy you look at NES to GC.

Yall are missing the point.  I'm not saying the Wii is going to lose this generation.  I'm simply saying Nintendo needs to look to the future.  Thus they need to come out of this generation unscathed in anyway.  Doesn't matter if it's sales or media hype.  Yall really do underestimate how powerful brandname really is.  And when it gets any kind of mark on it, it will hurt it severely.  Nintendo understands this, which is why they are making so many responses about how they have all this stuff, along with 3rd parties, planned for the core gamer.

If Nintendo realizes it's an issue, yall should as well.  And it's a big issue.  Maybe not for the Wii but definetly for N6.  Nintendo needs to really try and prove to the general public what they should or do already know.  And that's that they are supplying to ALL gamers.  We know they are, but they have to keep pushing the button.

Remember MS will never recover from that bad RROD media.  I mean that has hurt the Xbox brand for it's entire lifecycle.  I wouldn't be surprised if the next MS console didn't have Xbox in the word at all.  It's just things like that you have to watch out for.  This is simply an idea on how you can further your position in the market and in brand appeal.  Something that has no risk attached to it whatsoever.  I mean the Wii would still be the same price and now the consumer gets 2 games.  It's not risk for Nintendo because they have opportunity for increased advertising which generates more sales and demand along with a chance to drag in more 3rd parties.  Hell even if it wasn't about the bad media strike of being anti core gamer, it'd still be a good idea. I'm simply gving thought on how to resolve an issue, such that articles like Wii is a fad, Nintendo has forgotten the hardcore gamer, Only Party games sell, Nintendo Doesn't care about 3rd Parties, ect will dissappear.  It's articles like that you don't need gamers reading everyday.  You want them reading about new Wii games being announced, the expansion of the online setup of the system, and domination in the market without question.

Sales are gained by more than just price and games.  They are gained mainly by brand appeal and it is imperative to keep that brand appeal as high as it can be.  This is an opportunity to expand it further.
